Nativ. Label

Deliverables

Visual Identity, Products, Apparel

Nativ. Label was a clothing brand from 2008-2013 and served as a forum for apparel concepts mixing workwear cuts, streetwear graphics, and collegiate / heritage sportswear silhouettes into seasonal capsules carried by local NYC retailers.

The 'Unity Capsule’ was inspired by the iconic American heritage Join or Die illustration from Benjamin Franklin. Comprised of two caps and tees, the capsule’s goal was to empower one another and to unify for a cause.

NL Cut & Sew

Brand Identity, Products, Apparel

In 2013, we released our first cut & sew pieces for the brand. All locally sourced and made in NYC, back at a time where that wasn’t so easy to accomplish. The pieces comprised woven jacquards and later satin, featuring different patterns which we reinvented into elevated tank tops and baseball jerseys.

The first cut and sew release was the 3/4th’s tanks. Constructed with a breathable knit jacquard fabric, the tanks were made to be cool enough to be worn alone, and warm enough to layer under a button down or jacket. The idea was to design a tank that could be worn 3/4th’s out of the year.

NL Borough Varsity

Products, Apparel

The Nativ Label ‘Borough Varsity’ was the first jacket release under the brand back in 2012. The design and technique of the jacket mixes chenille patches, and twill appliqué lettering for a new take on the American classic.

The concept for the jacket began with the idea that whether you’re a born New Yorker or a transplant, how will you seize your opportunity with the time here? The sleeve insignia details a track shoe with added parachute representing the ‘hit the ground running’ mantra similar to a paratrooper in the military when landing in a new area to conquer. The scale of the twill lettering along the back of the jacket represents NYC’s sheer scale throughout the boroughs.
